There are days
when you taste of brimstone,
and burn my tongue.
I need a glass of water
to wash you down.
These days I can take you.
There are days when you
bite into my heart,
like a Snickers bar.
It hurts, but I am
accustomed to the pain.
These days I can take you.
But there are days
when you smile sweetly,
look at me with compassion,
and seem to understand.
It is then,
oh love, only then
that I cannot take you
at all.

I like this. I don't understand it, but I like it. (You always make me think so hard!)
Hey Jackie, thanks for even trying - it is about someone who is rough and crusty on the outside - you get used to the crustiness...and then when he turns sweet, you don't know how to deal with it and it breaks your heart.
